Digital Consulting and Training
|
|||||||||||||||||
| After more than 20 years of shooting film for newspapers, I found myself at the bleeding edge of technology when my paper, the Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle, was told to go all-digital early in 1997. As the staff computer geek, and the photographer with the most experience with our one digital camera, I was tagged to help plan and implement the conversion. For the next couple of years, I worked to keep the staff up to date on new technology and spoke at various workshops and conferences to share the lessons we learned . Since leaving Rochester at the end of 1999 I've split my time between freelance photography and digital consulting. I've worked with newspapers across the United States and in Asia to help them either move into digital or to improve their digital quality and workflow. In multi-day visits I combine group sessions with one-on-one training to help the entire staff learn to get the best quality from the digital cameras and the software they're using. A large part of being successful with digital is becoming adept with the software and workflow, so I teach beginner and advanced Photoshop as well as help design and teach workflows that make browsing and editing images, as well as finding them later, fast and efficient. In addition to this consulting, I'm a partner in Blue Pixel, a company involved in digital workflow solutions at the corporate level. | |||||||||||||||||
